toronto talent!

i had a great time walking around yesterday, once the sunshine made an appearance. there is a stretch of graffiti, seen from the subway, that i have always wanted to go back to and shoot...and thanks to Jacob, i had Common Market playing as the soundtrack. perfect!

[also: check out the work of Faux Reel/Dan Bergeron and especially look under 'pasted' for some of my favourite stuff. he is a Parkdale guy—did the soccer player installed in front of my old apartment, in fact. see post here entitled 'view from my kitchen'.
and one of the near bottom images i think might be something by Case/Ryan Mackeen, too. great stuff.]

GAVIN Feb28 1959 - Feb1 2009

my brother's favourite inspirational quote:

Synchronicity is the seemingly accidental meeting of two causal chains in a coincidental event which appears both highly improbable and significant. The people who come to you are the very people you need in relation to your commitment. Doors open, a sense of flow develops, and you find you are acting in a coherent field of people who may not even be aware of each other. This is the unbroken wholeness of the implicate order out of which seemingly discreet events take place. At this point, your life becomes a series of predictable miracles.
[Arthur Koestler, interpreting Jung]

as for me, i am without words.

cows, cliffs, cocks, colts, coguides, cognac and the connemara....

costa brava...

so perhaps it becomes ridiculous to post photos of things that are approaching a year old, however, here marks the beginning of my guiding season last year. the spring was launched with yet another visit to that city i can't get enough of—barcelona! and a few more photos of the costa brava region at large.

sant jordi day was a wonderful time to be in barcelona—it is the catalan equivalent of valentine's day, in a convoluted way. besides the beautiful weather, all the beautiful couples celebrated. roses for all the women, and books for the boys. people were dressed to the nines for their evening stroll. i happened to have lunch that day with a couple of students from a nearby language school, and the guy i sat with bought me a rose, too. just when i was starting to feel left out of all the fun...
it was quite a spectacle but trust me to only take pictures of this crazy hanging book...strange, indeed.

barcelona still stands out for me as having some of the best graffiti i have ever seen...

this would be the view from one of my hotel rooms. sometimes, life is really, really good.

and a spot of rain on the windscreen...
